North South University (NSU), established in 1992, is the first private university in Bangladesh and one of the country's leading institutions of higher education. The Department of Environmental Science and Management (ESM) established in 1994, is a pioneer in environmental education and research in Bangladesh. As the first department in the country to introduce a degree program in environmental studies, ESM has played a leading role in developing environmental professionals, researchers, and policymakers for more than three decades. The department offers undergraduate and graduate programs that integrate environmental science, management, policy, and technology to address contemporary sustainability challenges.
ESM is recognized for its interdisciplinary approach to education and research, with expertise spanning climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, GIS and remote sensing, biodiversity conservation, environmental policy, water resources management, environmental health, renewable energy, and sustainable resource management.
